As the name “Life 101”, I consider this class is a simple instruction for many complex situations that we might encountered in later our lives. School is not a merely place where we learn our skills but also the place we understand how to use out skills appropriately. People today, especially for the young people who just graduate form University, find hard time to deal with jobs. For them, the people who lack real experience always fail to combine theological knowledge and daily action together. Therefore, “life 101” can make students use their knowledge better by modeling actual practice. If it is possible, teachers in “life 101” need to find more opportunity to let the students attach the society.
Besides this, the class” life 101” has another important responsibility also. It should help students to establish healthy mental condition while facing challenges. Living in such competitive society, obstacles and pressures are inevitable. The only way to fight back is to stand out and against it. However, we have witnessed so much suicidal cases about teenagers in our society. They are so fragile that they cannot even afford any kinds of insults, or even just a small joke. By teaching right views of facing challenges in “life 101”, students will not only find better solution to deal with troubles but also understand the importance of life.
The final job for teachers in “life 101”is to avoid accidents in school, such as school violence, cheating in test. Although it’s hard to alternate negative part of school to positive part immediately, this effort will finally be proved to be effective by time. Rome van not is built in a day. Teachers in the class need to have certain amount of patience to let student realize the harm that would brought by negative idea to others truly from their heart. Teachers can achieve this by doing research about other negative influence that poisoned teenager’s mind and try to forestall it at the beginning.
Lilly, I definitely agree with your idea of Life 101. I feel that learning about the problems in society today will allow each student to know what is occuring in the world. By knowing what is going on, they may be able to take a stand and make the world a better place. I also like that idea of learning about solutions to several of the challenges that teenagers face today. By learning solutions, these problems can be put to a stop. For example, if students learn how to deal with a relationship issue or being bullied, many things can be avoided such as suicide. Therefore, learning about solutions to these problems can make a huge difference. Overall, your analysis and thoughts on this class would make a great course. It will not only help the students, but it will open the eyes to many teachers as well.
