I do not consent with the idea that America should be responsible for the disaster took place in Haiti. As an independent nation, Haiti should confront this problem by them. Of course, it may need certain amount of support but not political intervene. The United State government can send necessary material to help people in Haiti but not political officers nor military commander to unite them. As now, we know that Haiti is still in chaos. A majority of its citizens failed to accomplish the basic needs of human being. People do not know how to solve the accumulated number of corpses, and failed to have their stomach caulked every day. I have once seen a show about the aftermath of earthquake in Haiti on Mr. Jagger’s class.
An American journalist discovered the pervasive hunger in Haiti and decided to give free lunch to those Haiti citizens. However, the outcome is out of his exception. No matter how much money he brought, he still could not satisfy the people in Haiti. There is never enough. Because so many people in Haiti suffered hunger, his decision brought Haitians not only excitement for food but also disorganization. In order to get the precious resources, people fight with each other. Therefore, I do not think Americans help could be effective unless Haiti can build an effective government.
Of course, we should help every one who is now suffered. According current situation in Haiti, any kind of help would only be such a waste. Americans do not want to pour their money to something useless. Food in Haiti is not distributed equally; corruptions is still a sever topic in Haiti. All I advocate is to build a strong power-concentrated government immediately. A group with a leader can not run by itself. Only a strong government can assure the order of a nation.
